State subsidy for electric car tender – what has changed?
For the purchase of a company electric car, the state can grant up to 4 million forints – yet many miss out because they didn't know that the application deadline has been extended to April 15, 2026. The state-funded electric car tender is still active, in fact, the total budget has been increased from 40 to 45 billion forints – it's worth looking into as soon as possible.
On Voltie's blog, we previously wrote about the conditions of the 2024 tender, and this article now summarizes the recent changes: who can apply, how much funding they can receive, and how to submit the application.
The support is still active: the deadline for submitting applications has been extended to April 15, 2026, and the final project closing date is June 12, 2026. The budget has also been increased: during the latest modification, the available amount grew from 40 to 45 billion HUF – of which 13.95 billion is available in the Budapest region and 31.05 billion in the less developed regions.
The 2024 conditions remain largely unchanged: only fully electric, new vehicles are eligible for funding. Hybrid or used vehicles cannot be subsidised. The vehicle must be purchased and registered by June 12, 2026 at the latest. An important detail: the support is post-financed, meaning the project must be implemented first, and payment is made after the final settlement.
Participants in the application can be companies, cooperatives, sole proprietors, as well as taxi drivers based in Hungary whose activity was registered by the end of 2022. The net purchase price of the supported vehicle cannot exceed the revenue of the last closed financial year.
Depending on the company size, the following number of vehicles can be applied for: one car for under 9 employees, a maximum of five vehicles between 10–49 employees, ten vehicles for 50–249 employees, and a maximum of sixteen vehicles for over 250 employees. The eligible grant amount ranges between 2.8–64 million HUF.
The payment depends on the battery capacity and type of the vehicle. For a passenger car with a capacity of up to 41 kWh, 2.8 million forints can be requested, with a maximum purchase price of 11.5 million forints. Between 41 and 59 kWh, this amount increases to 3.6 million, while above 59 kWh, up to 4 million forints can be obtained, for a maximum net price of 20 million forints.
For vans and minibuses, the subsidy cap is also 4 million forints, but the permitted purchase price can be up to 25 million forints. If you apply for multiple vehicles, the total subsidy budget available per company can be up to 64 million forints.
The electric car subsidy application can only be submitted online, and authentication is also required for this – either with an advanced security signature or through the AVDH service. It is recommended to check the current call for applications and the necessary documentation on the palyazat.gov.hu website.
